i got to learn a little bit of the omaha langauge. the native american tibe Omaha, from which my city is named after, has an interesting dielect which is saddly dying out. but i was able to learn a few terms, one of my favorite was the name given to what they called 'two spirits' was: "speckled turtle" (i just thought it was cute). i have yet to find the meaning because the story is difficult to recover, but tell me if anyone can find it.
p.s. and an interesting find, did you know that samesex marriages have previously and always existed on this continent already. if fact they are still lawful ritually on reservations. :P
